Sentence five of the New Lord’s Prayer consists of two simple clauses, first a gentle petition and then a statement of fact. It is as follows.
Let us not wander into temptation, for the temptation of the Son of God is not Your Will.
The petition clause is an appeal for God to keep us from wandering into the dream of separation.
The fact: God does not intercede in our mind wandering. God does not will us to be tempted. God, by extension of spirit, created us. That is God’s will.
Sentence five leads us on to the final sentence in which is a entreaty for what really matters.
